Arminta Porter, (b. January 26, 1873 d. Sept. 22, 1881) daughter of D. James Porter and Sara, was born the same year as mother's death. Likely mother died as a result of childbirth and father was unable to take care of an infant.
The 1880 Census shows the household in this order: Christena Porter (head, widow, age 64); James (son, widowed, age 35); Franklin (grandson, age 11); Lillian (granddaughter, age 9); Arminta (granddaughter, age 7); Caroline D. Tener (daughter, widow, age 45).
Inscription reads:
Arminta M. Dau. of D.J. & S. Porter and adopted dau. of C.D. Tener
Born Jan. 26, 1873 Died Sept. 22, 1881.
