William STARR

His real name was William Starr, but after defecting from the British Army, used the alias of William Locke during the Revolution. He was pressed into British service at London, and defected when the ship reached Long Island. He enlisted in U.S. service at Brown's Mill, Frederick County, VA in December 1779. He was Captain of Cavalry in the VA Militia and served 2 years. He participated in the siege of Yorktown.
