Born 8 May 1849 at Springfield, Clark Co., Ohio to Sidney C. Gilbert and Elizabeth Clark, last of 9 children; husband of Nancy Abigail Potee, m.16 May, 1876 in Madison Co., Ohio; Charles lived in Pleasant Twp., Clark Co., Ohio for some time, then moved to Neosho Twp., Cherokee Co., Kansas to farm the land, but returned to Ohio, and continued farming near Urbana, in Champaign Co. Charles died at the home of his son Wayne Gilbert, on 16 July 1932, in Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio; Charles & Nancy had 6 children, and he is buried in Sec.2, Lot 27, grave #4.
