SHIELDS Betty Juanita Shields, age 79, Saturday, December 4, 2004 at home, surrounded by her family. Retired as a Secretary for the State of Ohio. Lifetime member of N.A.U.S. (Fisher Rd.), Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 495, to the American Legion Post 532, and to the AMVETS Post 1928. Preceded in death by parents Morris and Ruth (Lowe) Osborn, husband Edward W. Shields, daughters Nancy Mattox and Juanita L. Ray, brothers James and Paul Osborn. Survived by children, David M. Mattox, Robert L. (Norma) Mattox, Helen I. Lyons, Richard A. (Christine) Mattox, and Patty L. (Dennis) Ward; step-son, Ronald (Sherry) Shields; step-daughter, Christina Smith; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Joe) Lyons; sisters-in-law, Dottie and Ida Osborn; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 8 at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., where friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Keith Burt officiating. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery. Special thanks to caregiver Randi Seymour and Mount Carmel Hospice. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice in her memory.
