BIGELOW, HANNAH - Franklin County, Ohio | HANNAH BIGELOW - Ohio Gravestone Photos

Greenlawn Cemetery
Franklin County,

Hannah was born Mar 17, 1819 in Clark County, Ohio. D/O Josiah Marshall.

On Mar 22, 1838 she married Timothy Bigelow in Clark County, Ohio. They then settled at Camp Chase, Franklin, Ohio. (known for the Confederate POW Camp there during the Civil War). They had 12 children; but sadly many died young. They were: Franklin, Israel J, Matilda, Melissa J, Sylvester J, Cynthia, William M, Medora (aka- DORA), Timothy Larson, Smith O, Hannah, and Mary.

Timothy Bigelow was known as one of the very best horse breeders of his day.

In the 1900 census (about 25 years after Timothy's death), Hannah was noted as living with her daughter Melissa J, (who had married David Martin), in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio. It is therefore assumed that is where she died a year later on Feb 6, 1901.

The headstone reads: Hannah M. Wife of Timothy C. Bigelow, died Feb 6, 1901, aged 81 Y(ears), 8 M(onths), 29 D(ays). Below the etching in small print are the words "REST IN PEACE".
