Floyd James Baker, 69, Springfield, died at 4:10 a.m. Thursday in Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, where he had been a patient nine days. He had been ill for the past year.
He was born in Champaign County on August 11, 1904, the son of Arthur and Daisy (Nickels) Baker.
His wife, Elsie, died in July of 1973.
Baker was a retired truck driver for the Springfield Lumber Co. and had attended the Pentecostal Church of Christ, Springfield.
Survivors include, one sister, Mrs. Tellie (Flossie) Smith, Fletcher and several nieces and nephews.
Four sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Richeson-Wickham & Atkins Funeral Home in St. Paris, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.
