St. Paris--Allen W Barger, 63, St. Paris, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 1, 1992 at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana, after becoming ill at his home.
He was born in Champaign County on 21-Dec-1928, a son of the late Walter and Helen (McBeth) Barger.
On January 21, 1972, he married LaDonna (Bricker) Barger.
In June, 1982, he retired from the International Harvester Company in Springfield.
He was a 1946 graduate of St. Paris High School. A former member of the Johnson-St. Paris Volunteer Fire Department, he was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge of St. Paris. For the past three years he was employed by the Champaign Transit System.
Survivors include his wife, a son and daughter-in-law David and Debbie Barger of St. Paris, a daughter Mrs. Barry (Diane) Baughman of DeGraff, eight grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Harold (Sue) Friend of Troy, and an aunt Norma Pauley of St. Paris.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Ruth (Current) Barger.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Richeson-Wickham and Atkins Funeral Home, St. Paris.
Rev. Craig Fourman will officiate. Burial will be made in Spring Grove Cemetery, St. Paris
