ST. PARIS - Phyllis R. (Hoewischer) Bodey of St. Paris, Ohio passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 in the Miami County Hospice Unit, Troy, Ohio.

Born on March 6, 1935 in Sidney, Ohio, Phyllis was a daughter of the late Walter G. and Ruth (Hall) Hoewischer. She married Melvin Bodey on September 20, 1953 and he preceded her on September 2, 2015. She is survived by four sons and their spouses: Michael and Karen Bodey of Mutual; Phillip and Mary Bodey of Woodville; Richard and Gloria Bodey, and Roger Bodey all of Saint Paris. She was a proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Elaine (Clay) Halterman of Urbana; Brent (Jillan) Bodey of Wayne; Monica (Nathan) Kaffenbarger of Myrtle Beach, SC; Gina (Jermaine) Holliday of Springfield; Shannon Bodey of St. Paris; Mikayla Bodey of St. Paris; three great grandchildren: Ainslee, Wyatt, Aubree, one on the way, and a step great granddaughter, Jai'lynn Holliday. In addition to her parents, a brother Merlin Hoewischer and a sister, Lavera Heaston, preceded her in death. Phyllis was a 1953 graduate of Concord High School and a member of the St. Paris United Methodist Church.

She served her community on the Champaign County Extension Advisory Board, and the election board as a poll worker. She enjoyed Homemakers Club, Farm Bureau Women, and her card club. Phyllis was particularly fond of draft horses. She was formerly employed by P.K. Lumber St. Paris, but spent most of her time as a homemaker and a farm wife.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the ATKINS-SHIVELY FUNERAL HOME, 216 S. Springfield Street, St. Paris with Reverend Dave Kepple of the St. Paris United Methodist Church presiding. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, N. Heck Hill Road, St. Paris. Visitation will be held in the funeral home from noon until the time of the services at 2 p.m. on Wednesday
