Nancy Louise (Lannert) Zook, age 82, of Springfield, OH passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 in Hearth and Home of Urbana.
Born on December 9, 1932 in Springfield, Ohio, "Lou" was a daughter of the late Benhart and Francis (Dewitt) Lannert. She was a 1950 graduate of Springfield High School and a 1954 graduate of Muskingum College. After graduation she became an English and Dramatics teacher at Springfield High School under Charlie Fox. She married John "Jack" Zook on June 15, 1957 and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Together they raised two sons, John "Erik" Zook and Daniel Lannert Zook, both of Springfield. She is also survived by grandsons Jordon Anthony Zook, Jesse Anthony Zook, a niece, Pam and two nephews, Tim and Ben.
In addition to her parents, a sister, Ann Gootee, preceded her. Lou traveled with her husband during his Air Force career and taught school in Austin, TX, Tokyo, Japan, and Omaha, Nebraska. She was always popular and entertaining. After she and Jack settled back in Springfield she became an English teacher at Springfield North and Springfield South High Schools. She formerly attended the United Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at noon with a memorial funeral services at 1 p.m. in the ATKINS-SHIVELY FUNERAL HOME, 216 S. Springfield Street, Saint Paris, Ohio with Pastor Dave Kepple of the St. Paris United Methodist Church presiding. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Spring Grove Cemetery, St. Paris, OH.
