Ernest E. Huff, 90, of Fletcher, passed away at 12:56 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, in his residence.

He was born March 31, 1916, in Conway, Ky., the son of the late John and Fannie (Phillips) Huff. He married Amy O. Powell on Dec. 24, 1933, and she preceded him in death May 27, 2006.

Ernest was of the Baptist faith. He retired in 1978 from the Hobart Corp., Troy, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He also served as the Fletcher police chief for 18 years retiring in 1979.

He is survived by nine children and their spouses, Ellis (Shirley) Huff of Lexington, Ky., Kenneth Huff of Punta Gorda, Fla., Betty (Frank) DeLoye of Ft. Loramie, Gene (Carol) Huff of Piqua, Dee (Dixie) Huff of Piqua, Bernice (Richard) Wion of Minster, Darlene (Terry) Cheadle of West Milton, Dan (Nicki) Huff of Bradford and Dale (Belinda) Huff of Fletcher; 106 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren. He also is survived by a sister, Sylvia Greer, of Lafayette, Ind.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra June Huff; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry Charlie, and Shirley; and a sister, Maggie Coffey.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, with Pastors Gary A. Wagner of the United Pentacostal Church of Piqua and grandson Kenneth Douglas Huff of Tennessee presiding. Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery.
