GERALD E. CLAYTON, 78, Sidney, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at 4 a.m. at his residence. He was born on December 28, 1929 in Jackson Center, Ohio, the son of the late Ray and Clara (Metz) Clayton.
On March 16, 1978 he married Patricia (McMaster) Clayton, who preceded him in death on December 15, 2005.
He is survived by two sons, Tim Clayton and wife Lisa of
Sidney, and Doug Clayton and wife Dawn of Akron, Oh, stepson, Joe Smith and wife Angie of Sidney, 6
grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eunice Clayton, and Corrine Shatto, and two brothers, Paul and Don Clayton. Mr. Clayton retired from the CSX Railroad Company after 37 1/2 years of service. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1948 to 1952, and was a life member of the Sidney AMVETS, American Legion, and VFW. He was also a member of the Sidney Eagles and the Marine Corp League.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, with Rev. Jonathan W. Schriber officiating.
Burial will be at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney, Ohio.
