Born Nov. 20, 1782 and died Nov. 2, 1849
James was born November 20, 1782, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and married Mary Ward in Cross Creek Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania in about 1806. James and Mary left Pennsylvania and moved to Tuscarawas County, Ohio, in 1819. They were among the first pioneers in the county. James purchased 180 acres in Mill Township, Tuscarawas County (near the border of Harrison County and Tuscarawas County) in 1827.
