John Gosset born 1 Oct 1843, died 5 Feb 1910. He was the son of John Gosset and Margrett (Nickoson) Gosset. Margarett was the daughter of Thomas R and Margrett Elizabeth (Patterson) Nickoson. Her date of death is unknown and presumed to have occurred shortly after John Jr's death as no other records for her can be found and he was raised by Margrett's parents.
He was a Civil War Veteran, Co. F, 189 Ohio Infantry.
John's obituary states that he was found dead in the snow about half a mile from his home. He had apparently been missing for about a week. A coroner's inquest was held and ultimately determined that the death was natural causes citing that he had been complaining of a severe pain in his side (appendix). "He perhaps laid down at the side of the path and death came from heart trouble before he was again able to start on his way home."
