Luther W. Walz, age 84, March 7, 1997 at Doctors Hospital West. Retired with 40 years of service from Columbia Gas Company. Member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter Sandra. Survived by wife of 56 years, Hilda; daughter, Beverly Nicol; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and James Renshaw; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kellie Walz; grandchildren, Mark Nicol (fiancee, Jennifer Decker), Lori Stewart (husband, Shane), Jennifer and Jeffrey Renshaw, Chad, Shaun and Joshua Walz; brother, Stuart Walz. Luther was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Rome where he served 34 years on council and 4 years as President of the congregation, Sunday School Superintendent and had 43 years of perfect attendance. Served many years as Secretary of Dartball of Central Ohio. Charter member of Keenagers as well as the Gas Co. mens chorus and choir. Member of the Gasco Club and was the last remaining charter member of the Columbia Gas Chorus. Member of Westland Senior and McDowell Senior Centers and recipient of the Kiwanis Award in 1968. Funeral service Monday 10:30 a.m., St. Paul Lutheran Church, 55 Pasadena, New Rome. Friends may call at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and Monday 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Pastors Ray Rosenthal, Tom Goellrich and Ron Chelton officiating. Interment Alton Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in his memory.
