Robert Nelson migrated from Pennsylvania to Union County in 1813, where he purchased a large tract of land. He was born in Mar 1772. He married Martha Mitchell who was 24 years younger than he and a daughter of Judge David Mitchell and Martha 'Mattie' Black. Robert became one of the first Commissioners in Union County and an Associate Judge. He and Martha did not have any children. Robert became a wealthy citizen and was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church. He died 3 Dec 1852 in Union County.
