Deceased Name: John Rea - Clintonville loses one of its strong, supportive voices
One of Clintonville's strongest voices was silenced Friday when John Rea died at the age of 57.
Rea was active in the community's Fourth of July celebrations, Whetstone High School boosters and helped start the Dominion Middle School Baseball-Softball League which remains strong today.
If something made him mad, he was never shy about letting you know -- though he was just as quick to put his arm around you and say "Good job" if he was pleased about something.
His commitment to local youth, shared by his wife Nancy who teaches at Dominion, has created ripples of influence that can't be quantified.
Calling hours are Tuesday, May 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Weir-Arend Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the funeral home, 4221 N. High St.
His family, including son John "Charlie" Rea and daughter Beth, ask that memorial donations be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, 1479 Morse Road.
