Mother
Mary Konopka
Born in Szewnia, Poland. Arrived in the US at age 49 and resided in Camden, New Jersey, Coatesville, Pennsylvania, and Monessen, Pennsylvania and on a farm near Cleveland. She arrived in Toledo about 1938.
Mrs. Konopka became an American citizen at age 82, explaining that she originally planned to return to Poland when it became liberated from the oppressors from whom she fled. When she realized she would never return, she began her studies to become a US citizen. She retired at the age of 82 from the production department of a potato chip manufacturer. She resided on Everett St and died at the home of her daughter, Sophie Dankowski of Hausman St.
