Bobby Joe, 79, 933 Chestnut Ave., passed away at his home.
He was the son of Joe and Wilda (Gates) Gutman. He was married to Jean (White) Gutman who preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons: Brad (Rita), Mason, and Kevin, New Madison; two daughters: Gayla Walker, Sidney, and Rita Gutman, Mason; three step-children: Rick Higgins, Sidney, Jenyne Higgins and Dorothy White; daughter-in-law, Denise Gutman, Sidney; two sisters: Sondra Harris and Kenny Berger, Houston, and Melody Schwan, Largo, FL; and ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Danny; a son-in-law, Samuel A. Walker Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Melody Gutman; a stepson, Terry White; a granddaughter, Valen Gutman; a sister, Star (Jerry) Slife.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1403 in Sidney. He was a great singer and entertainer. He got his start on his father's radio show, Whistlin' Joe Gutman, in the 1940's. He later toured the Mid-West with The Ink Spots throughout the 1960's. In the late 1960's he owned and operated his own record company, Gayla Records, named after his oldest daughter. He went on to be a successful salesman - everything from life insurance to cars - but he never stopped singing.
Funeral Services will be at Cromes Funeral Home, Sidney,
with Bobby Joe's grandson, Daniel Gutman officiating.
