Robert K. Long, Sr., 68, of Piqua passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 204 at 8:11 p.m. n Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton.
He was born in Champaign County, Ohio, on June 24, 1935, the son of the late Robert T and Elizabeth Belle (Kress) Long.
Mr. Long was a 1953 graduate of Rosewood High School and had served with the United States Army. In 1998 after 41 years of service, he retired from the Hartzell Propeller in Piqua.
During 10 years of his employment, Robert was the service managr at the Piqua Airport. He was a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Piqua. His other memberships include Moose Lodge of Sidney, Piqua Elks Lodge 523, where he served as trustee, and Golden Boy Golfers, also of Piqua.
On June 22, 1955, Robert married the former Patricia Anne Fairchild. She survives along with a son, Robert K (Linda) Long Jr. of St. Paris; a daughter, Debra (Robert)Uncapher of Johnson City Tenn., four grandchildren, Paul Long of Tipp City, Robbie and Brandon Long, both of St. Paris, and Elizabeth Uncapher of Johnson City, Tenn.; one brother, Thomas (Bonnie) Long of Urbana; and two nephews, Clint Long of Urbana and Clay Long of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the Richeson-Wickham and Atkins Funeral Home, St. Paris, with Rev. Jack Chalk officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, St. Paris.
