Mrs. B.W. Merritt, 70, life long resident of Miami county died at 2:30 o'clock this morning at her home in Lena. Mrs. Merritt had been sick for more than a year but had not been in a serious condition until the last few days.
She was born May 22, 1862, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Miover Worthington, pioneer family of eastern Miami county. Mrs. Merritt was a member of the Baptist church at Lena.
She leaves six children, a son Rev Raymond Merritt lives at New Morfit, Ohio near Cincinnati; and five daughters, Mrs. Ola Manning of Springfield; Mrs. Donna Brautigan of Sidney; Mrs. Mary Baker and Mrs. Jennie Neff of Conover and Miss Bertha Merritt, at home. A daughter, Mrs. Martha Fitzpatrick died two years ago.
In addition she is survived by 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren and three sisters. The sisters are Mrs. Bessie Angelbarger of Piqua, Mrs. Jennie Watkins of St. Paris and Miss Mary Worthington of Lena.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Lena Baptist church Thursday afternoon at two o'clock in charge of Rev. Samuel Furrow, pastor of the First Baptist church of Urbana assisted by Rev. E.E. Denlinger. Burial will be made in Spring Grove
