Walter G Wardley, 84, St. Paris, Ohio, died at 8 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 1999 in Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana.
He was born on June 15, 1914, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Walter Bartholdi Wardley and Elizabeth Alice (Byrne) Wardley, both deceased.
He was a retired commercial fisherman and since 1972 had owned Wardley's Orchard, St. Paris. He had been a member of the Sayville, N.Y., Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by Jean (Ayers) Wardley, who he married on Nov. 4, 1939, two sons and daughters-in-law, William W and Clara A Wardley, of St. Paris, Walter R and Mary Jane Wardley of New Carlisle; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-niece.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Rita Schneider.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family, with Re. James Van Zile, pastor of the St. Paris First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, St. Paris.
