a former Urbana man was shot to death in his Anaheim, Calif., apartment early Friday, and Los Angeles police said this morning they have no motive for the slaying.
Thomas Jefferson Wells, 56, a former resident of East U.S. Route 36, Urbana, was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, which occurred at 3:30 a.m. Friday.
Thomas Wells' son, Kim, 29, who lived with his father, was reportedly shot five times in the arms and abdominal area, but was released from a Los Angeles hospital Saturday afternoon.
Wells moved to California in the mid-1970's. He had been a linotype operator for several years at the Springfield-News Sun.
He was born Nov 18, 1927 in Johnson County, KY, the son of John and Lillian (Collins) Wells. Other survivors include his son Kim and two other sons Tom and Chris; a brother and seven sisters.
