Herbert L. Heinrichs, 83, of Urbana,died on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at
Mercy McAuley Center. He was born on April 19, 1929 in Chicago, IL, the
son of Leonard and Evelyn (Shaffer)Heinrichs.
Herbert served in the U S. Navy and retired from Ohio State Patrol. He was a past member of the Urbana Country Club, served as a Boy Scout leader for 30 years, was a swimming and diving coach and track coach at Gettysburg High School and was a charter member of the Ohio State Patrol underwater recovery team. Herbert was also a member of the American Legion, Elks
and Masons. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Rebecca Fritz of Arcanum,
step-son, William Simmons and his wife Regina of Ruther Glen, VA stepgrandchildren,Tyler Fritz and Chad Fritz
He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Norma Jane Heinrichs, whom he married on Dec. 18,1973 and died on Dec. 14,2006. The family will receive friends from 12:30 -1:30 p.m. on March 26, 2013 in WALTER
& SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642S. Main St., Urbana, where a service
will be held at 1.30 p.m. with the Rev.Nancy Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery
