Chris A. Howell, 81, of Piqua, passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1931, in St. Mary's, Chris was the son of the late Chris and Rose (Silvers) Howell. He married Martha Loudean Kerns on June 13, 1951, and she preceded him in death on April 2, 1980.

Chris is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Ron and Julie Howell of Piqua; two grandchildren and their spouse: Jennifer and Andy Rush of Conover and Matt and Amanda Howell of Troy. He was a loving grandfather to nine great-grandchildren: Morgan Rush, Arleigh Rush, Ethan Howell, Grace Rush, Reagan Howell, Emma Rush, Tucker Rush, Caitlin Howell and Marin Howell. A sister, Agnes Bowman, of Troy, also survives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Francis Havenar, Bud Howell, Mary Baumann, and Naomi Jacomet.

Chris was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Piqua. He started Chris Howell and Son Construction in 1968 and he retired in 1997. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher.
