Lester E. "Les" McEowen, 78, of Lena, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Sunday Jan. 1, 2006, in his residence.
He was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Rossburg, the son of the late Everett and Mary (Boze) McEowen.
He married Phyllis M. McLain on Nov. 2, 1947, and she survives along with two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Connie McEowen of Fawn Grove, Pa. and Dan and Darlene McEowen of Fletcher; a daughter, Eloise Phillips of Wooster; eight grandsons; and 11 great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Bea Crust of California and Lethea (Donald) Maggert of Lena
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John McEowen.
Les attended the Community Church of the Nazarene, St. Paris. He was formerly employed by Kronenburg Plumbing, J.J. Thompson Plumbing and Troy Plumbing. He later became a self-employed plumber and did plumbing inspections for the city of Piqua. Les enjoyed collecting letter openers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, with Pastor Lloyd McClurg of the Community Nazarene Church, St. Paris, presiding.
