WILLIAM A. "Bill" CROMES, 83, of Jackson Center, OH passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 8:06 A.M. at the Dorothy Love Retirement Community where he had resided for the past month. He was born on September 22, 1931 in Piqua, Ohio the son of the late William and Mary (Freeman) Cromes.
In June of 1950 he was married to Rose Eva Hatterman who preceded him in death on August 4, 1977. On October 20, 1979 he married Carol Rose who survives along with 5 sons, Garry, John and Keith Cromes, Chuck (Inda) Cromes and Bill (Debbie) Cromes all of Sidney. 1 Step-Son, Bruce (Teresa) Rose of Quincy and 2 step-daughters, Judy Wolfe and Tammy Rose both of Springfield, OH. 18 grandchildren, Natisha (Josh) Wilson, Rycki Schmeising Brian Cromes, Bart Cromes, Brandon Cromes, Cody (Niki) Cromes, Heath (Shannon) Cromes, Justin Cromes, Neil Cromes, Tamara Lucus, Amy, Brandi, Gary , Jeff Harrod, Ryan (Rebecca) Rose, Adam (Rhiannon) Rose, Kevin Wolfe and Kim Rosales, 24 great grandchildren and 1 sister, Jean Maniaci of Piqua. He was preceded in death by 1 brother , 3 sisters and 1 step-daughter.
Bill retired from Ross Aluminum in 1980 after 35 years of service with the company. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Sidney Eagles Lodge. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, Reds baseball and sprint car racing and especially spending time with his family and friends. He and Carol enjoyed 17 years of going to Florida during the winter months enjoying the new friends they met there.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Cromes Funeral Home, Inc.302 S. Main Ave. with Pastor Kent Hollis officiating.
Burial will be at Fletcher Cemetery.
