Leonard L. Kiser, 81, of Piqua, died on Monday, August 9, 2004 at 4:00 am in his residence. He was born in Fletcher on August 6, 1923 to the late Furman Sr. and Gladys Kemp Kiser. He married Bettie M. Volker Hoffmire on December 3, 1949 in Piqua and she survives.
Other survivors include three brothers and sisters-in-laws Melvin and Esther Kiser of Piqua, Roger and Josephine Kiser of Bradford, Furman Jr. and Shirley Kiser of Greenville, three sisters and brother-in-laws, Mildred and Howard Levering of Piqua, Hazel Lewellyn of Piqua, Dorothy and Dale Schultz of Greenville, and a sister-in-law Jeanne Kiser of Troy, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold, and a sister, Phyllis.
Mr. Kiser was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church, and a World War Two veteran, serving in the United States Navy. He retired from General Motors in September of 1979 after 30 years of service. He was also a member of the Piqua American Legion Post # 184, and the Trotting Association of Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Grilliot as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Fletcher Cemetery, where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad of Piqua
