Ronald C. Ely, 59, of Covington, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003 at 10:55 a.m. in Kettering Medical Center. He was born on Feb. 20, 1944 in Troy to the late Ralph Chester and Alma (Elifritz) Ely. Ron is survived by his two children and their spouses, Lisa (Ted) Betz of Troy, Todd (Jina) Ely of Troy; five grandchildren, Alysia, Jessyca and Caleb Betz of Troy, and Talon and Taner Ely of Troy. He is also survived by a sister, Lois Lykes of Tipp City; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Connie) Ely of Casstown, Marvin (Becky) Ely of Piqua, and Jerry (Kay) Ely of Tipp City. Ron is also survived by a special friend, Susan Ely of Covington. Ron was of Baptist faith. He was a past president of the Ohio Southdown Association. He served in the Ohio Army National Guard for six years. Ron was the owner of Ron Ely Trucking of Covington. Ron was a 1962 graduate of Miami East High School. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 17 from 2-6 p.m. in Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Mix of the Union Baptist Church, Troy, presiding. Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery.
