Gilbert H. Williams age 75, of Piqua, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 10:05 p.m. in the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born on Aug. 31, 1927 in Casstown, the son of the late Alfred and Bessie (Asbury) Williams. Gilbert married Glenna Baker on Feb. 4,1950 and they celebrated 53 years together. He was a member of the Fletcher United Methodist Church where he served as a lay delegate to the United Methodist Church annual conference and he did lay speaking. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He retired in 1985 with 35 years of employment with Hobart Corp., Troy. He was also engaged in farming. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Glenna; two sons and daughters-in-law: Tim and Sandy Williams of Conover, and Gary and Yvonne Williams of Bellefontaine. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Chad and Mike Williams of Conover; Jason (Joy) Williams of Rushylvanian, and Angela (David) White of Grove Port. Several cousins also survive him. His parents, one brother, Wesley Williams, and a sister, Ranzie Ditmer, preceded him in death. Visitation will be held on July 29 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. in the Fletcher United Methodist Church, 205 S. Walnut St., Fletcher with the Rev. Leland Brehm and the Rev. Bonita Wood presiding. Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher.
