Jo Helen Lovejoy, age 88, of Troy passed away at 12:20 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016 in Hospice of Cincinnati .
Born on August 6, 1927 in Lincoln County, WVA, Jo Helen was a daughter of the late Ernie and Mable (Plumbley) Neal.
She married James W. Lovejoy on June 27, 1946 and he preceded her in death on December 31, 2001.
Jo Helen is survived by a daughter and son-in law; Sandy Lovejoy and Michael Manny of Cincinnati. She was a loving grandmother to two grandchildren; Ben (Jamie) Phifer of Liberty Township, OH, and John Manny of Cincinnati and a great grandson, Liam Phifer. Additional survivors include five siblings: Addis (Anna Lou) Neal of Massillon, OH, Marietta (Dorsel) Lovejoy of Alum Creek, WVA, Ralph (Paula) Neal of St. Albans, WVA, Gloria (Sherman) Adkins of Sias, WVA, and Emma (Bill) Stewart of Covington, OH. She was loved by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, James Michael Lovejoy and a daughter, Sharon Phifer. Jo Helen was a 1945 graduate of Hamlin High School in Hamlin, WVA. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, Troy and was formerly employed by Staunton Elementary School as a cook.
Cooking was Jo Helen's passion. Her home was always open to all. She loved to provide a home cooked meal that she had frozen or preserved and it was always served with her homemade cookies.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in the Union Baptist Church, 1833 E. Peterson Rd., Troy, Ohio with Reverend Dale Adkins presiding. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher, OH
