Donald L. Slife, 67, of Troy, passed away at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
He was born April 1, 1944 in Lockington, the son of the late Tony Leo and Edna C. (Glick) Slife.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Theresa A. (Keiser) Slife; two sons, William N. and Jennie Corns, of Reynoldsburg, and Jack E. and Jonora Corns, of Hilliard; five brothers, James R. Slife, of Cookeville, Tenn., John "Larry" Slife, of Fort Loramie, Thomas Slife, of Piqua, Rick Slife, of Piqua, and Leonard Slife, of Houston; one sister, Linda Davis, of Sidney; five grandchildren, Kelsea, Alyson, Taylor, Jarret and Jacilynd Corns; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by two sisters, JoAnne Combs and Judith Hudson.
He was a 1962 graduate of Houston Schools was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge F&AM No. 14, Troy and the AMVETS.
Donald was a Vietnam veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He joined the Ohio National Guard in 1972 and retired in 1991. He then was employed with A.O. Smith in Tipp City and retired from PMI, Troy, in 1997.
He loved his family and gardening and he loved to tell jokes.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, by the Rev. John Shelton. Interment will follow in Fletcher Cemetery with VFW Memorial Honor Guard services at the graveside.
