Lester W. "Les" Beaver, 89,Houston, died at 2:20 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2009, at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

He was born March 7, 1920, in Piqua, to the late Frank and Estella (Clingan) Beaver. He married LaDonna M. Roegner on Nov. 2, 1944, in Piqua; she survives.

Other survivors include a son, Gary (Karen) Beaver of Houston; three daughters, Sandy (Terry) Pellman, Pam (Roger) Schulz and Pat (Joe) Wackler, all of Sidney; 11 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Jean) Beaver of Troy.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter.

Mr. Beaver was a graduate of Houston High School. He retired in 1985 as a supervisor for Hobart Brothers following 45 of employment. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran having served during World War II as a corporal. He enjoyed his trip with other World War II veterans to Washington D.C. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, gardening and playing cards. He was a member of the Houston Congregational Christian Church and the VFW Post 4874.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Houston Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. James Manuel officiating. Burial will follow at Houston Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad.
