WAGNER, Florence M. age 99, of Dayton, died Thursday, August 12, 2004. Florence was born, December 18, 1904 in Houston, OH. She graduated from Piqua High School Class of 1923. After attending the Chicago Art Institute & working a short time in New York City she moved to Dayton. Florence began working in Rikes Advertising Department in 1926 as a fashion illustrator & later became the chief artist. She retired in 1969 after 43 years. During those years she taught fashion illustration for 22 years in the night school of the Dayton Art Institute. She always loved her work, combining art & fashion. Florence was a member of Faith (Hale) UCC, its Womens Guild, and the Rikes 20 year Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles P. Wagner & Alma E. Wagner Toland; & step-father, Claude S. Toland. Florence is survived by her numerous cousins & many friends. Funeral services 10:00 AM Wednesday at Marker & Heller Funeral Home, North Main Street Chapel, 1106 N. Main Street with Pastor Naida Sutch officiating. Interment Houston Cemetery, Houston, OH. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 PM Tuesday.
