Rhett W. Brelsford, 73, of 6815 Alexander Dr., Piqua, died at 9:04 pm Tuesday December 14, 2010 at the Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born December 23, 1936 in North Lewisburg to the late Everett R. and Faith (Lodge) Brelsford. He married Vivian E. Rice June 18, 1960 at the Terre Haute United Methodist Church; and she survives.

Other survivors include two sons Randall W. Sr. (Micki) Brelsford, Braden Brelsford all of Piqua; three daughters, Letty (Mike) Roeth of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Kyna Congdon of Piqua, Kassia (Jason) Studebaker of Troy; nine grandchildren, Randall W. Jr. (Jennifer) Brelsford, Russell Brelsford, Ryan, Colin and Logan Roeth, Brandi (Aaron McElfresh) Anders, Megan Condon, Jovie and Dalton Studebaker; and two great grandchildren, Makayla and Kegan Brelsford. He was preceded in death by his only brother, Noel Brelsford.

Mr. Brelsford was a 1954 graduate of North Lewisburg High School and obtained his Agriculture degree from the Ohio State University in 1958. His long career of teaching began in 1958 at Rosewood, Graham Junior High, and then taught in the Piqua City School District for many years at Wilder Junior High School and Piqua High School until his retirement in 1989. He then worked for several years at the Meijer's Store of Troy. He served as an Assistant Athletic Director for the Piqua City Schools, enjoyed the Reds, Bengals, and Ohio State University sports. He was an active member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and had belonged to the Masonic Lodge. In addition to enjoying gardening, he loved spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am Saturday December 18, 2010 at the Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. David C. Ramming officiating. Burial will follow at Terre Haute Cemetery.
