The Pickaway County News (Vol. II – No. 4) Pickaway County, Ohio
December 15, 1916

“Wesely LIMES was born in Virginia, August 4, 1831, and died at Sandusky, Ohio, December 5, 1916, after a lingering illness, lasting over a period of two years, brought on by the infirmities of old age, being 85 years, 4 months and 1 day old at the date of his death.

He was united in marriage to Martha A. MILLER, January 1st, 1851. To this union were born seven children, three of whom with the wife, have preceded him to the spirit world, leaving one daughter, Mrs. James MCGARITY, of Columbus, three sons, Charles of Ashville, Sherman of Columbus, and John of Linden; fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn their loss.

Enlisting in the Union army, from Champaign County, in 1862 he served throughout the war, being with SHERMAN on his memorable march to the sea, and was discharged, at the end of the war, with all due honors. He was a resident of Pickaway County for 35 years, residing about one half mile north of Ashville, where the latch string was always out, and a cordial reception was always waiting for the many friends and acquaintances he had made in this section.”
