Nora Ellen Speraw was born January 29, 1898 to Margaret Ellen Willige and Prosper Dalien Speraw in Wellston (Jackson County), Ohio. She married Mandell Churchill Kirkendall on October 31, 1918 in Catlettsburg (Boyd County), Kentucky. They had one daughter, Alma Jean Kirkendall, and were later divorced. She then married Henry Roger Thomas on January 5, 1927 in Wellston, Ohio. She died on May 15, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio and is buried near her parents and daughter in Ridgewood Cemetery.
