Artimissia Jane Edington was born February 2, 1856, in Deerfield Township, Morgan County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Austin and Catharine (Hampshire) Edington. Artimissia was known to others by her middle name, Jane. She married John Edie, Jr., on November 13, 1873, in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. John and Jane had 13 children, and raised them on their farm near Wainright, Ohio. Late in life, after John's death, Jane married Joseph Smith. Jane died January 17, 1939.
