David 'Packing House' Mitchell was born 15 Feb 1792 in Lancaster County, PA. He died in Franklin County, Ohio about 1882… the exact date is not known at this time.
Nancy Hunter Mitchell was born 16 Jun 1796 in Kentucky. She died in Franklin County, Ohio about 1865… again, the exact date is not known at this time.
David 'Packing House' Mitchell was a son of Judge David Mitchell and Martha 'Mattie' Black. He was seven years old when his family migrated from Pennsylvania to the Ohio wilderness. He served in the War of 1812 and barely survived. On 1 Apr 1817, he married Nancy Hunter, daughter of Joseph Hunter and Margaret McGaughey. They had nine children. He engaged extensively in stock raising, removed to Columbus and operated in the cattle market till his fortune deserted him.
