Jesse Gill, a son of Andrew Gill and Susanna Hemphill was born 30 Oct 1804 in Belmont County, Ohio. After Jesse's mother died near Cincinnati, he migrated with his father and siblings to Union County when he was about 8 years old. On 10 May 1827 Jesse married Jane Cochran, the youngest daughter of James Cochran and Mary Polly Porter. Jane was born on 2 Dec 1806 in Erie County, Pennsylvania and migrated with her family to Union County when she was about 5 years old. Jesse and Jane had five children. Jesse died 14 May 1872; Jane died 7 Jun 1887.
