June Deere, 86, of Urbana, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in Oakwood Village, Springfield.
She was born on August 9, 1930 in Springfield, OH, a daughter of Delbert and Thelma (Plantz) Swonger. June attended Clark County Schools for 11 years, moved to Champaign County her senior year and graduated from Concord High School in 1948. She worked at Pioneer Electric and retired from Drs. Evans and Collins. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed playing cards and decorating for all holidays. June also collected snowmen and Santas.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Leonard Deere; children, Karen J. Bailey of West Liberty, Michael J. Deere of Conover and Vicki J. Deere (Tim) Bunnell of Urbana; grandchildren, Kyle Bailey of Bellefontaine, Seth Deere of Columbus and Heather (Bill) Ullom of Urbana; 4 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lamar (Jo Ann) Swonger of Urbana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Thelma Swonger; brother, Donald Swonger; and grandson, Aaron J. Deere.
The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016 in the WALTER & STOWE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Matt Lee, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Urbana.
