HADDIX, Emily Margaret 86, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the home of her dear granddaughter, Carrie (Chad) Thompson. Emily was born December 7, 1920 in Terre Haute, Ohio to Wesley and Elizabeth (Dingledine) Shaffer. She graduated from Terre Haute High School in 1937 and Westville High School in 1938. She married Paul Richard (Dick) Haddix on October 27, 1945 and he preceded her in death September 20, 2005. Emily was a member of the Terre Haute United Methodist Church and the Terre Haute United Methodist Women. She worked at the Boston Store for 10 years and at Lakewood Swim Club for 10 years. Emily enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was happiest when she was able to cook for or help out her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Steve) Fleckenstein of Sidney and Debbie (Randy) Bair of St Paris; her grandchildren, Carrie (Chad) Thompson, Amy (Eddie) Davis, Brandi Fleckenstein, Jason Long, Debon (Forrest) Sherman; her great grandchildren, Lane and Drew Thompson, Ciera Long, Chrysler and Jay Sherman; her sister, Edna Ilges, her brother, Martin Dale Shaffer and numerous nieces and nephews of several
generations. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings, Jay and Lester Shaffer, Virginia Seitz, Esther Callison, Jean Albert and Ruthanna Shaffer and a great grandson, Caleb Long. Burial will follow in Terre Haute Cemetery.
