Death Certificate: Born in OH Feb 23, 1872 to Pater Sailer born in Germany and Louisa Osweiler[sic] born in Germany Died at the age of 60y10m14d in Massillon, Stark Co., OH Dec 30, 1932. Manager of Sailer Hotel in Massillon. Gustav Sailer was married at one time however at the time of his death he was divorced.

The marriage of Gustav J. Sailer and Miss Maude Gaddis took place at 3 o'clock Monday at the parsonage of St. Paul's Lutheran church. The Rev. L. H. Burry officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.F. Gaddis, of 315 West Tremont street. Mr. Sailer is a son of the late Peter Sailer. Mr. and Mrs. Sailer will reside at the Hotel Sailer.

RETIRED OWNER OF HOTEL DIES
Gustave J. Sailer, 60, Succumbs Today to Lingering Illness

An illness of two years brought death, this morning to Gustave J. Sailer. 60, retired hotel owner and manufacturer, at the Sailer homestead, 422 Erie St., S. He had been bedfast for the past year.
Mr. Sailer for many years identified with the manufacture of cigars and later assumed ownership of the. Sailer hotel in Erie st., S
Later he became associated with the Sailer- Melvln Manufacturing Co. which a number of years ago was merged with the Reliance Manufacturing Co. He continued in the hotel business until two years ago when forced to retire because of falling health.
Born in Massillon, Mr. Sailer was a life resident of this city with the exception of a few years spent in studying. He was a graduate of Mt. Union college at Alliance, and, later studied music at Heidelbery, Germany. He was an accomplished organist.
In Business 35 years
After studying at Heidelberg he returned to Massillon and became associated with his father in the cigar business. He was interested in local business and hotel enterprises for more than 35 years.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. E. R. Adler, of Massillon; a grandson, Edward
Adler; two sisters. Miss Frieda Sailer and Mrs. Amelia Olson, of
Massillon; a brother, Arthur G. Sailer, of Massillon, and a niece, Mrs. Ruth Coursin, of McKeesport
The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p. m., at C. L. Arnold's funeral home. The Rev. F. B. Hax, pastor, of St. Paul's Lutheran church, will officiate.
Interment will be made in the Massillon cemetery
