LANGSVILLE - Nellie E. (Hatfield) Michael, 83, formerly of the Langsville and Dexter areas, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Overbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Middleport.
Born Aug. 11, 1924 at Dartmoth, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Chloe Bradshaw. She was a homemaker, member of the Rutland Church of God, a longtime volunteer at the Meigs County Senior Citizens Center in Pomeroy and a member of the Swinging Seniors Dance Club. During World War II she worked in an ammunition plant in Maryland.
Nellie was a loving wife to husband Samuel Michael, Racine, and a loving mother to children Shirley (Ernie) Mitchell, Pomeroy, Linda (Jeff) Cleland, Lancaster, Connie Dodson, Middleport, Charles (Cheryl) Hatfield, Middleport, Richard (Karen) Hatfield, Dexter, a daughter-in-law, Debbie Hatfield, Columbus, son-in-law, Dave Dodson, Point Pleasant, W.Va., step children, Gary (Sharon) Michael, Louise Michael, Lenora (Roger) Leifheit, 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by first husband Clarence Hatfield, son Paul Hatfield, three sisters and a brother.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Rutland Church of God, Rutland, with Pastor Ronald Heath officiating. Burial will follow at Standish Cemetery, Dexter. The family will receive friends during visitation from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Birchfield Funeral Home, Rutland, which is in charge of arrangements.
