James Robinson 'J. R.' Mitchell was a son of Jesse Mitchell and Elizabeth Robinson. On 1 Apr 1858, J. R. married Olive Ann Gill, daughter of Jesse Gill and Jane Cochran. They settled on his father's farm in Jerome Township and had six children: Sarah, John Welsh, William Gill, James Frank, Aaron H., and Jean C. (Boddy). Sarah and Aaron are memorialized on the same stone.
