Mary Chapman was a daughter of Rev Benjamin Chapman and his second wife, Sylvia Upson. Mary was born 22 Mar 1799 in New England, prior to the family migrating to Franklin County, Ohio. About 1828, she married Dixon Mitchell, son of Judge David Mitchell and Martha 'Mattie' Black. They had seven children before her early death on 10 May 1848.
