Elias was the eldest of 11 children; was born Jan 5, 1845 in Montgomery, Franklin, Ohio, and died Jan 14, 1933 in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio. S/O Christopher Elias Shoemaker (B:1820-Licking, OH, D:1891-Columbus, OH), and Sarah Ann Belknap (B:1825, Marietta, OH, D:1901-Columbus, OH). His siblings included: Lemira, Mary, Debois, Seth, Eva, William, Charles, Stella, Ruth, and Amber.
Elias Shoemaker married Mary Catherine Dumbauld Jun 3, 1874 in Franklin County, Ohio. (D/O David William Dumbauld (B:1818-PA), and Delilah Poundstone (B:1824-PA) ). Their children included: Hattie (Kathy), William David, James Elias, Abram Jackson, and Frances.
Elias was first a brick maker and then a successful farmer. By 1900 he owned his farm free and clear in Clinton Township. On his passing, he left a significant estate to his wife and children.
