Elva J Massie, 91, of St. Paris, died Tuesday at 4:24 am in Champaign Nursing Home, where she had been a resident one day, following a lengthy illness
She was born in Lawrence County, May 17, 1896, the daughter of Ambrose and Rosetta (Miller) Slagle.
She married Walter Massie on June 17, 1919. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1958.
She was a member of the Myrtle Tree Baptist Church, St. paris anda devoted wife and mother and homemaker
Survivors include her four sons, Francis, Raymond, Roger and Jerry, all of St. Paris, six daughters, Mrs. Roger (Marcella) Mahan, Agnes Lemmon, Mrs. James (Eleanora) Lee, all of St. Paris, Mrs. Russell (Eloise) Putnam of Fayettesville, TN and Mrs. William (Mary) Lee, of New Carlisle, 40 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchildren; one step granddaughter and four sister sisters, Cora Massie, Cassa Slagle, Nella Seifrit and Burnetta Henderson all of Henderson, all of Jackson
One brother preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 pm in the Richeson-Wickham & Atkins Funeral Home, St. Paris, with the Rev Ron Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, St. Paris
