BRADFORD - Roy Ellsworth Winks, 76, of Bradford, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at 12:10 p.m. at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Miami County, son of Roy and Gertrude (Coate) Winks. On April 20, 1963, he married June Keeler Winks, who died Dec. 31, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Scott Winks of Sidney and David Winks of Lebanon; three daughters, Jackie Elsner of Bradford, Jennie Anthony of Covington, and Peggy Murphy of Dayton; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Perry Winks of Greenville, Texas; and two sisters, Patricia Parsons of Springfield, and Pauline Wright of Clearwater, Fla. His parents, one brother and one sister are deceased. Mr. Winks served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, on the USS Gwynn. He was retired from General Motors in Dayton. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Dayton, and attended the Community Friendship Church of Covington. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, with the Rev. Forrest Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher. Full military services will be conducted at graveside.
