MARY E. BLOCK HAWKINS LEFEVRE, 101, of Palmetto, FL, formerly of Sidney, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015 at 1 A.M. at Manatee River Assisted Living in Palmetto. She was born on January 23, 1914 in Washington Township, Ohio, the daughter of the late Albert and Florence (Douglas) Block.
Mary graduated from Sidney High School in 1931. She married the late Harry W. Hawkins in 1932 and moved to Urbana, OH. They were blessed with two sons and four daughters, the late Richard E. (Shirley) Hawkins, Irva Jean (Robert) Bricker, Barbara M. (Ronald) Jacoby, the late Rosemary E. Hawkins, Roger W. (Joyce) Hawkins, and Alberta (James) Cruse.
Mary worked at the W.H. Marvin Co. in Urbana for six months, and the Stolle Corp. after moving to Sidney. She also worked at Sidney Dairy, Sears Roebuck Office, Montgomery Ward Office, Copeland Office, and Ametek Westchester Plastics for 18 years before retiring in 1967. She also had a sewing and alteration business until she was 81 years old.
On October 7, 1995 Mary married Carl O. LeFevre who preceded her in death May 4, 2011. They enjoyed their winters in Florida for over 10 years.
Mary has 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 30 great-great-grandchildren. She was baptized at the age of 32 at the Church of Christ in the fall of 1946. She attended Tatum Ridge Baptist Church in Florida.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 24, 2015 at 2 P.M. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, Sidney, with Rev. Brent Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Fletcher Cemetery.
