Betty Ruth Maxson, 81, of Conover, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010, in Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. Betty was born in Urbana, on Feb. 5, 1929, the only child of the late Harry Albert and Jessie O'Ferral (Wooley) Wert.
She married Harry V. Maxson on Nov. 12, 1948, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1990.
Betty is survived by two children, Rodney Maxson of Wickliffe and Bonnie (George) Bayham of St. Paris; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She also is survived by three sisters-in-law, Pearl Baker of St. Paris, Mabel Reed of Springfield and Phyllis Wiltheiss of Piqua; two brothers-in-law; Silas Maxson of Piqua and Myron Maxson of Dorothy Love, Sidney; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Shaffer, Marveline Everett, and Esta Everett, and three brothers-in-law, John, Charles and Harold Maxson.
Betty was a member of the Lena Baptist Church. She graduated from St. Paris High School and was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter, Troy. She worked as a clerk for several department stores including Sears.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main Street, Fletcher, with Dr. Rev. James VanZile of the St. Paris Baptist Church presiding. Burial will follow in the Fletcher Cemetery.
